Sally Hansen Diamond Strength “Glass Slipper” Review & Giveaway!

16 Jan

Glitter nail polish is glitter nail polish is glitter nail polish. Right? That’s what I always thought. Glitter polish got huge last year. Seems like every single brand, including the high end ones came out with several sparkly shades. By the end of last year, I was over it and put myself on a polish buying hiatus. Around that time, I heard/read about how Sally Hansen had changed their “Diamond Strength” line bottles back in October and of a little glittery shade called Glass Slipper.

I’ve never found ANY colors in the Diamond Strength line to be much fun, so I’m glad that SH decided to spice things up. In the photo it looks like silver glitter, but it’s really white/icy flakes of color. They are iridescent, but very subtle (and the more you layer, the less subtle it gets). Perfect if you want to pull off a fun, sparkly mani at the workplace. The polish itself is also very gelatinous, which is a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. For me, I found it easier to apply that way so it was good!

It looks absolutely gorgeous on top of any color. I wanted to do a swatch, but right now I am wearing OPI’s Designer De Better, which is a foil-y silver. I applied 2 coats of the Glass Slipper and it’s still hard to tell that I have it on. Below are some swatches that I pulled from Google images. Trust me when I say that it looks SO MUCH BETTER in person than in pictures. (Click the photo below to enlarge)

PROS: Not your typical sparkles, applies easily, goes with everything (Except silver!)
CONS: Kind of difficult to find.. which is a testament to how awesome it is.
WHERE TO BUY: Walgreens, CVS, Target, etc. any store where you can find Sally Hansen Products

but wait. Why should you buy it when you can get it for free??!?!?!?!

That’s right! I am doing my very first giveaway! I am able to give a way a brand new bottle of Sally Hansen Glass Slipper to a lucky Glitter & Vodka reader (It is not my half used bottle, I promise). All you have to do is leave a comment on this post. Make sure you include your name and email address so I can contact you if you win. Winner will be chosen at random (thanks on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2:00pm. Make sure you get your comment in by noon (EST) on Friday!

Happy nail polishing & good luck!

Thanks for reviewing this polish! I have been checking it out but couldn’t get myself to buy it cause the last few glitter polishes I have bought were terrible and I didn’t want to waste more money.

*sigh* not entering because the cost of shipping it to Germany would not be worth it. But maybe I can find something fun in Germany! =) Thanks for your makeup advice the other day. It’s tough to find brown girl colors here.
